- It's better to Learn English while you're 'working out'Here's an interesting solution for people who are too busy to Learn English...take it to the gym.A recent study from a Chinese University found that students who learned new English words while riding exercise bikes, performed better at remembering and using the new words, than the control group, who learned the words sitting on a chair. The improvements in cognitive performance, go beyond just memorisation. Exercising also helped the participants understand how to use the words they had just learnt.This advantage was found again a month after the test, showing it also has a long-term effect."The results of the study are clear-cut: Learning a foreign vocabulary while performing a concurrent physical activity yields better performance than learning the same vocabulary while being in a static situation," the authors of the study wrote.This, and other studies, show that exercise helps with brain elasticity, which slows down the negative cognitive effects of getting old - exercising while learning is not just for kids.
